After attending this course, I change my opinion of pop culture class. In the beginning of this class, I thought this must be one kind of history class and it must be a boring class. I even worried that I would fell asleep when I am listening to the teacher. However, after I attending pop culture class, I found it is very interesting and cool. We have various class activities and much interesting learning challenge.
At first, I thought it was too much homework for me. As time went by, I realized that it really is learning challenge but not homework because I learned a lot. The readings, the doing and the reflecting help me a lot. I know many things I didn’t know before and learned what I knew deeply. The seeking and thinking help me begin to think in English not Chinese and get a deeper understanding of the American pop culture. What's more, the class activities help me to be more confident and learned to get along with my friends. In the beginning of this class, I am shy. But now, I made many friends and and be more confident.
Therefore, I think the most meaningful thing of this class is teaching me to be a people who is confident and has critical thinking. For example, this class let me don’t afraid of presentation, however, it let me enjoy it. I enjoy the preparation and the deliver of presentation. When I was preparing the presentation, I can get a deeper understanding of pop culture. For example, I learned a lot when I search the information of the music genre and movie genre. I just watched and listened what I like before and didn’t pay much attention to the genre, so I learned a lot. While delivering the presentation, I know that it is necessary to let my classmates to understand what I was talking about, so I organized the language in my own word as fast as I can due to the time limitation.
In general, I learned a lot in pop culture class. The things I learned are beyond the knowledge. I also learned how to communicate with other people and how to express my feelings in my own words. What’s more, learning the pop culture helps me to overcome the culture shock. Now, I adapt to American life well!
