I attended a dance performance this semester with my classmate. At first, I decided to go with my team to appreciate a opera, however, the tickets sold out when we realized it is time for buying tickets. I love art very much though I am not good at dancing and singing. After the fail of attending an opera performance, I decided to go to the Chicago Cultural Center to watch the dance show because I eager to know the differences of art especially of the dance and music between Chicago and my country. I think knowing the differences from my country can helps me adapt to this new environment better.
I have been to Chicago Cultural Center before. It is a wonderful place which is full of historical atmosphere, I love this place and I determined to back there next time. Therefore, when I got the news that there will be a project bound dance performance in Chicago Cultural Center, I was ready to go on the other day.
On the day of performance, I went there before the show time and was sitting there expectantly. The dancers were practicing for the performance and testing the background music before the show begin. They were hard working and professional, they show their real feelings with dancing and facial expression. Their practices made me more expectant. However, the performance was not very satisfying. In my thought, it was a little boring and disappointed me because their dancing kept the familiar and boring plot during the whole performance. What I expected was a dance with tight plot and exciting parts.
After watching the project bound dance performance,I searched them online to make sure whether project bound dance is a boring thing. I watched some videos, but I found most of them were very interesting and those were what I expected to appreciated at Chicago Cultural Center. This experience let me know that I need to leave my comfort zone to experience something new, it may be not very satisfying. But you must believe that everything is great and don’t let that unsatisfying thing to disappoint you.
